Shared Hangi & Poi Making for Maori Language Week

We had a great turn out for Maori Language Week with Ako Pai coming in to teach our playgroup whanau how to make poi.

We were then joined by our neighbours West Harbour Playcentre who came and made poi and sang some waiata with us. Meanwhile in the kitchen our team had been up early preparing our hangi so we could all eat together at 12pm.

It was fantastic to meet some new neighbours from our housing development in Moire road with the Vision West team bringing them along in their van. It was great to see a big cross section of our community come along to help us celebrate Maori language week and the hangi was enjoyed by everyone with lots of requests to do it again.

A big thank you to Rona, Lisa, Tirisa, Raewyn and Roel who were our dream team for prepping, cooking and serving the hangi.
